This table is perfect for the littlest to the biggest of kids to play, eat or draw. You only have to be able to sit criss-cross applesauce to enjoy.
The youngest in this photo just turned 3. Then there is my 6 year old and 8 year old, they love having cupcakes!
This is the plywood I bought before I gave it the Luxe treatment. Its a cheap piece of plywood that I had the fab man at Lowes cut down into 5 different projects for me! For this project I used a piece that was trimmed to 2 x 4 ft.
Then I sanded it with a 80 grit circular sander all over, paying close attention to the corners. I wanted rounded corners that wouldn't hurt anyone.
Next I prepared the surface for a whitewashing by wiping all the sanding dust off. My paint was Amy Howard One Step Paint that I mixed with water for a washing solution. It dries really fast so I painted a little then gently wiped to get an even coverage. You can use any water based paint and add water to do a wash. The trick is to dampen your raw wood first and discard some of the watery paint mixture on a paper towel before brushing it on wood. After allowing washing mixture to soak into the wood for a minute or two then gently wipe off with a lint free towel.

The legs are 8" stock furniture legs at Lowes and the top plates were also at Lowes right next to the legs. I had a little difficulty with the length of the screws that came with the top plates being to long.
So I added a piece of shim under the top plate, predrilled the holes for screws then placed top plate over the shim.
Voila tea party time!
